Shared Lives carer Support Officer

Accountable to:   Head of Membership

Salary:                     £34,130 FTE £20,754 actual

Hours:                     22.5 hours a week

Location:                Home based

Duration:               3 months (secondment considered)

Job Purpose

  • To develop, support and co-ordinate the Shared Lives carer champions’ and network across the UK
  • To provide support, information and advice to Shared Lives carer members.
  • To work with members to develop guidance, campaigns and other responses to some specific areas of concern.

1.            To develop, support and co-ordinate the Shared Lives carer champions network

  • Take the lead on co-ordinating and developing the champions work, provide day to day support to ensure Champions are equipped with all information to be able to represent Shared Lives Plus when communicating with the Shared Lives Plus carer membership.
  • Work in collaboration with the Head of Membership to devise a training programme for Shared Lives carer champions which increases their knowledge of best practice, Shared Lives Plus’s wider work and confidence to provide advice and support to peers.
  • Support champions to establish/maintain a high quality of data within the CRM system and associated databases to ensure effective member interaction.

 

2.    To provide support, information and advice to Shared Lives carer members

 

  • Provide information and advice to individual and groups of Shared Lives carers.
  • Develop, write and maintain high quality information and learning resources useful for Shared Lives carer members to include monitoring and updating the members’s area of the website.
  • Identify issues of concern to Shared Lives carer members and develop strategies to address those issues in partnership with colleagues.
  • Support Shared Lives carer members (and the people they support) to raise awareness of their work locally and to participate in national awareness-raising work.
  • Represent the Shared Lives carer point of view at internal and external meetings.

 

3.             To work with members to develop guidance, campaigns and other responses to specific areas of concern.

  • Work with members in groups and via our online forums, to develop a shared view of good practice in key areas of work and to develop high quality written guides and other resources to support our members
  • Work with members in groups and via our online forums to address specific areas of concern and lead on specific projects to address them.

 

4.            General

  • Work in accordance with Shared Lives Plus’s aims, objectives, policies and procedures and promote a positive image of the organisation and its members.
  • Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required, commensurate with the level of the post. As Shared Lives Plus is a small organisation, all staff carry out ‘hands-on’ work at all levels, on occasion.
