VIDEO + SLIDES ‘What works’ Keeping supported people safe in Shared Lives

Every person supported in Shared Lives is vulnerable, whether through disability, early trauma, or ill health. Safeguarding/adult protection concerns can happen in any setting, sometimes where you least expect it – through lapses in care, medication errors, unclear professional boundaries, inappropriate communication, or breaches of confidentiality.

This session is for all carers and Shared Lives schemes, including those who feel “this could never happen to me.”

Carers will gain practical skills to recognise risks early, prevent issues, and respond confidently if concerns arise.

Schemes will learn how to support their carers, reduce organisational risk, and strengthen the safety and quality of the service they provide.
