The Creating the Conditions for Long Term Care webinar will take place on Wednesday, 16th April, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. This session will focus on international policies and practices in integrated, person-centred long-term care and support.
The webinar will highlight the Laurel consortium, a EU HORIZON-funded project working to create actionable policies and training tools for high-quality integrated long-term care across Europe.
The session will also share information about WHO Europe’s work programme, which supports the transformation of long-term care ecosystems, promotes quality, and leverages digital and social innovations.
A key part of the webinar will feature an example of social innovation and intergenerational practice in Shared Lives Plus, the membership organisation supporting Shared Lives schemes and carers, and the home of the Homeshare UK Network. Nicola Watson, Homeshare and Nations Officer at Shared Lives Plus, will join the panel. Nicola brings 18 years of experience in social care, mainly focused on supporting people with learning disabilities to live full lives. She worked for nine years with an award-winning Shared Lives scheme in Scotland, where she helped self-employed carers provide relationship-based, home, and community support. Nicola also contributed to the IMPACT (Improving Adult Care Together) project in Moray, where she helped develop recommendations to reduce loneliness in rural areas.
Tom, a Shared Lives Ambassador with lived experience of a Shared Lives scheme, will also join the discussion.
The event is hosted by IFIC (International Foundation for Integrated Care), a global leader in promoting integrated care to improve the health and well-being. Professor Anne Hendry, IFIC Senior Associate and Director at IFIC Scotland, will host the webinar.
