Shared Lives Plus works as part of IMPACT to change national policy and practice

IMPACT believes that ‘good support isn’t just about ‘services’ – it’s about having a life.’ In pursuit of that vision, their objectives are to make practical improvements on the ground and contribute to longer-term change by:

• Supporting more widespread use of evidence in adult social care leading to better care practices, systems and outcomes for people who draw on care and support, their families and communities.
• Building capacity and skills in the adult social care workforce to work with evidence of different kinds to innovate, improve care and deliver better outcomes.
• Facilitating sustainable and productive relationships between the full range of adult social care stakeholders to co-create positive change/innovations and improve outcomes for people drawing on care and support and their families. # Improving understanding of the factors which help and hinder the implementation of evidence in practice, using this to overcome longstanding barriers to positive change.

Ewan King, CEO Shared Lives Plus, is one of two Deputy Directors of IMPACT, and is responsible for leading IMPACT’s work around embedding lessons learned in national policy and practice. As part of this work, Shared Lives Plus will manage and host a new role – Deputy Head of National Embedding – to support IMPACT’s policy and practice influencing work across the UK.

IMPACT’s vision aligns closely with the work of Shared Lives Plus. Through being part of IMPACT, Shared Lives Plus will benefit from being part of a core team that delivers the leading evidence centre for adult social care, helping us and our members to Grow Shared Lives and Homeshare across the UK.
