Statement on recent racist and violent disorder
The Shared Lives Plus family has been shocked by the racist and violent disorder which has sprung up in this country, spreading destruction and fear.
We are greatly disturbed and saddened by this unrest, which is fuelled by people who seek to drive a wedge between communities and break apart the fabric which unites us.
Shared Lives vision is for a kinder, stronger society built on sharing our lives and our homes. That ideal is something we must protect. We welcome our similarities and our differences – they are what make our relationships thrive.
We have made representations to government to ensure that everything possible is being done to protect people working in social care, and those who draw upon care and support.
If you are a Shared Lives scheme worker, carer, supported person, or a participant in Homeshare that is frightened and needs support, please do get in touch with our membership team, who are ready as ever, to listen to and support you.
