Shared Lives Plus and SCIE launch new resources to support recruitment and referrals to Shared Lives

In collaboration with Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) Shared Lives Plus have created two NEW online resource libraries:

  • To help build knowledge and skills for social workers when referring adults to Shared Lives
  • A carer recruitment resource directory for schemes to access

New social worker resources to improve referrals to Shared Lives

This resource library for social workers includes training briefs, supporting documents and short training videos to help social workers and social prescribers’ action better referrals to Shared Lives.

Commenting on this resource library, Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for adults said,

“I am really pleased that Department of Health and Social Care was able to support Shared Lives Plus – the national charity which supports Shared Lives – and the Social Care Institute for Excellence to develop these new Shared Lives resources for social workers.

I am a huge supporter of Shared Lives – it delivers excellent support to people and enables people to live good lives in a loving family home. As a social worker, I know however, that we have a huge role to play in supporting Shared Lives to flourish, and that we need to encourage more referrals into Shared Lives.

These new resources were designed to raise the awareness, knowledge and skills of social workers of Shared Lives and support social care professionals to make good referrals and provide ongoing support.”

Shared Lives carer recruitment resources directory

Shared Lives scheme members can access a new suite of Shared Lives carer recruitment resources in their members area (login required).

This resource library aims to support Shared Lives schemes in their carer recruitment and includes posters, leaflets, social media graphics, videos, an animation, ambassador case studies, and the DHSC Made With Care campaign assets (featuring real Shared Lives households).

This first phase of the directory has been joint branded with SCIE. Shared Lives Plus would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this project so far, including those who have provided additional assets for use by other Shared Lives schemes. We will be adding these to the resource library in due course as part of phase two and will keep you updated.
