Shared Lives carers and schemes celebrate human rights at stunning UK award ceremony in Liverpool:
Our tiny but powerful network of Shared Lives carers, approved by local schemes, to open up their homes to people who need support for their physical or mental health, were recognised last week at our exuberant awards ceremony in Liverpool, at the Hilton hotel as part of the two day UK conference for everyone involved in supportive shared living.
It was the first awards that we held, the night before our annual conference for people involved in this unique and relational social care service.
Often working unnoticed in nearly every local authority area of the UK, Shared Lives carers are part of local councils and CCGs to support people of all ages. In Shared Lives, people recover faster when they’re with people they choose and can form long-lasting relationships, tackling loneliness, isolation and making our communities, social care and health services more inclusive.
The standard of entries was so high, the judging panel created a new category – Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony was the highlight of the first evening, with many members finding it inspiring and empowering! You can view and tag yourself in all the photos on our facebook page Anna McEwen, our Executive Director of Support and Development and Martin Farran, Director of Adult Services and Health, Liverpool City Council, got the lucky job of congratulating the winners!
