Shared Lives Plus’ national test, learn and grow programme ‘Live more’ is exploring the potential of Shared Lives day support for people living with dementia and their families.
The Centrepoint of the programme is the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, where all ten local authority areas are involved, with the aim to expand the programme to include other sites across the UK.
Staying active and connected to the people, places and things that matter to us is crucial to all of our wellbeing, including when we are living with dementia or are supporting someone with dementia as a family carer. In doing so, the programme aims to support the Government’s mission to achieve a shift from crisis management to prevention.
“I know I’m doing a good job when I see the look on people’s faces when I arrive to pick them up. I know some women who have started wearing lipstick again, or thinking about what they’ll wear – since they’ve been coming to me. Before, they’d lost sight of themselves.” – Shared Lives carer
