Proof of eligibility letter for Shared Lives carers

Shared Lives carers sometimes need a headed Shared Lives carer letter to show proof of their caring role – for example, when applying for a Blue Light Card or other discount schemes. Shared Lives Plus can provide this confirmation on our official headed paper, which many organisations accept as evidence.

This page explains what the letter is, who can request it, and how the process works.

What this letter is

Our Shared Lives carer proof letter:

  • confirms that you are a member of Shared Lives Plus
  • is issued on Shared Lives Plus headed paper
  • can be used as evidence that you are a Shared Lives carer
  • is accepted by Blue Light Card as part of their eligibility checks
  • can be used for other schemes which ask for proof of a caring role

The letter includes

  • your name
  • confirmation that you are a Shared Lives Plus member
  • our registered charity details
  • contact information for Shared Lives Plus if the organisation needs to verify the letter

We send the letter to you as a PDF by email, so you can upload it or print it as needed.

What Shared Lives Plus can and cannot confirm

What we can confirm

In your proof letter, Shared Lives Plus can confirm that:

  • you are a member of Shared Lives Plus
  • you are a Shared Lives carer, as part of our Shared Lives carer community
  • Shared Lives carers are part of a recognised, regulated form of social care

This is usually enough for organisations like Blue Light Card and similar schemes which ask for confirmation of a caring role.

What we cannot confirm

Shared Lives Plus cannot confirm:

  • your employment status
  • any contractual arrangements with your local authority, scheme or provider
  • details of your income, tax or benefits
  • any information about the people you support

Those details sit with your local Shared Lives scheme or the organisation that contracts with you as a carer.
