National Lottery Awards For All Scotland

Shared Lives Plus has been awarded a grant from Awards for All Scotland. This funding supports a partnership between Shared Lives Plus and SafeLives, bringing together knowledge and expertise of Shared Lives with knowledge and expertise of domestic abuse.

This project works with people who are extremely vulnerable facing the intersecting issues of disability and domestic abuse. People with a learning disability are more likely to experience abuse, but, due to their learning disability, may not be able to access the services that are available.

Over the next year, we will start to build the infrastructure needed in Scotland to allow existing Shared Lives services to better support people with a learning disability who have experienced domestic abuse.  We will do this by building relationships with referrers and local support agencies; and providing training for Shared Lives carers and scheme staff.

Ben Hall, Shared Lives Plus Development manager for Scotland said:

“It is great to have the support from Awards for All, this grant will allow us to expand the awareness of Shared Lives support for people who have experienced domestic abuse. We will be able to train more staff, strengthen partnerships, and let people know that there is support out there.”

Shared Lives Plus is one of 299 organisations sharing over £11m in funding from Awards for All, funding which is made possible by National Lottery players. You can see the full list of funded projects on the National Lottery website.

Shared Lives Plus has been working with SafeLives since 2017, to improve support within Shared Lives for people experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse. You can read more about our domestic abuse work here.
