Shared Lives Plus supports our Shared Lives carer and scheme members across the UK to thrive. In Scotland there are currently 16 Shared Lives schemes and approximately 330 Shared Lives carers. Shared Lives schemes cover 50% of local authorities, so there is still a lot of work to do to develop Shared Lives so that people across Scotland can choose Shared Lives for their care and support.
Shared Lives in Scotland is regulated by the Care Inspectorate in accordance with the Public Services Reform (Scotland) Act 2010.
In Scotland, Supported Lodging schemes are inspected under the same legislation as Shared Lives and some are also members of Shared Lives Plus.
Shared Lives Plus offers support and guidance to our members in Scotland, we are currently working to raise awareness of Shared Lives at a senior, national level and to secure funding for our ongoing work to support members, raise awareness and develop Shared Lives across the country.
There is a Shared Lives committee in Scotland made up of representatives from Shared Lives Plus members. The Chair of the committee is Robin McLintock, a Shared Lives carer, and Vice Chair is James Hill, a scheme coordinator, both from the Midlothian scheme.
Committee membership includes providers of services (local authorities and independent organisations) and Shared Lives carers.
