Staying close – Shared Lives for care leavers

The national rollout of Staying Close has started and we are delighted that Shared Lives has been showcased by the DfE as one of the three key housing and support models under Staying Close.

Hero Image

Shared Lives, which operates in almost every authority in England, whilst better known in adult social care, is not widely known in children’s social care. Shared Lives, which has similarities to foster care, is a deeply relational form of care and is rated by Care Quality Commission as the highest quality and safest form of social care.

We are inviting commissioners and senior leaders in local authorities who are responsible for care leavers to join us for a 45-minute webinar in November.

The webinars will explore how Shared Lives can be part of council’s Staying Close offer. Attendees will hear about the evidence and costs, how councils are making funding and commissioning work, and from a care experienced ambassador about what Shared Lives means to young people.
