A new report from Homeshare UK, part of Shared Lives Plus, highlights the growing role Homeshare is playing in supporting people to live well at home, while responding to pressures across social care and housing.
The state of Homeshare in the UK 2024–25 shows a 54% increase in Homeshare matches, with 91 matches reported in 2024–25. Homeshare provides companionship, practical support and overnight reassurance through carefully matched, reciprocal living arrangements.

The report highlights the difference Homeshare makes to people’s lives. 70% of householders said they felt reassured by having someone in their home overnight, and half said Homeshare helped them remain living at home.
Homeshare also offers value for money. Householders paid an average of £120 per month, while homesharers avoided market rents averaging £753 per month.
“Behind the statistics in this report are powerful human stories. A 54% rise in Homeshare matches shows growing demand for connection, reassurance and affordable living - and points to the enormous potential for Homeshare to play a bigger role in tackling loneliness, housing pressures and rising care costs.”
The Homeshare UK Network, facilitated by Shared Lives Plus, brings together organisations committed to safe, well-supported Homeshare arrangements and growing the model across the UK.
