Shared Lives Week 2026

Shared Lives Week (15-21 June 2026) is our annual flagship campaign to celebrate the best of Shared Lives and show our gratitude for the amazing work of our Shared Lives carers.

This year’s focus is Shout about Shared Lives – care worth talking about

  • Because great care shouldn’t be a secret
  • If more people knew, more lives would change

We want to raise awareness of Shared Lives with the public, the media, local decision makers in adult social care and local MPs, MS, MSP and MLA’s to smash the myths about what it’s like to work in, or draw on social care – so more people can see themselves in a Shared Lives role or match.

  • The hashtags will be #ShoutAboutSharedLives, #CareWorthTalkingAbout, #WeAreSharedLives, #SharedLivesWeek2026, #TheSecretsOut and #ShareYourSharedLives

Why Shared Lives Week matters

The whole week is a lot of fun, but that’s not the only reason we do it.

  • Giving Shared Lives carers the recognition they deserve – They’re the beating heart of Shared Lives, and this week is all about them!
  • Celebrating achievements – People thrive when they are supported in Shared Lives, and we love to cheer them on – every step of the way.
  • Spreading the word – Many people haven’t heard of Shared Lives, and we want to change that.
  • Finding new carers – If you’ve ever thought about opening your heart and home to someone who needs support, Shared Lives Week is the perfect time to learn more.
  • Making waves – Annual awareness weeks are a great opportunity to chat with policymakers and make sure Shared Lives stays on their radar.

What happens during Shared Lives Week?

  • Local and national events – From coffee mornings to conferences, the Shared Lives community comes together to say #wearesharedlives, and to celebrate and share their experiences.
  • Inspiring stories – Real-life tales of connection, care, and community.
  • Social media buzz – Campaigns, videos, and heartwarming moments shared far and wide.
  • Shout-outs and awards – A moment to celebrate the stars of Shared Lives.
  • Online free awareness raising webinar – help us spread the word and tell one person to come along
