Make Care Your Career: National campaign highlights Shared Lives

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has launched its annual adult social care recruitment campaign, rebranded this year as ‘Make Care Your Career’.

The initiative aims to encourage more people to explore rewarding careers in adult social care, directing individuals to www.adultsocialcare.co.uk. This platform allows users to search for local job opportunities and access guidance on starting a career in the sector.

Shared Lives roles are now featured on the website, helping to raise awareness of the role of a Shared Lives carer. As in previous years, the campaign also highlights a Shared Lives household – this time featuring Preety and Shawn from Ategi.

Ategi, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, works in partnership with local authorities across Wales and England, delivering high-quality care and support services. Preety and Shawn’s story features in a video montage, social media graphics, and recruitment posters. Pretty said, “I feel very privileged to be able to share a positive message about Shared Lives. Hopefully more people will come forward and have the willingness to help people who need the support.”

All Shared Lives schemes are encouraged to take advantage of the campaign’s reach by using the variety of free resources available to support local recruitment efforts.
