There’s a brilliant story in today’s Daily Mirror about a wonderful Shared Lives household in Liverpool. The feature profiles Shared Lives carers Craig and Beth who support Mark through the Merseyside PSS Shared Lives scheme.
In the article Craig talks about how he became a Shared Lives carer after finding his career in finance unfulfilling – following in the footsteps of his mum who had also been a Shared Lives carer.
“I had seen how happy my mum was in her job, and I wanted that amazing work-life balance that she had had – I knew I could do better. Beth and I spoke and we decided it was something that we could get involved with and it could.”
As well as caring for Mark in his own home Craig also works for PSS as a scheme worker, where he supports other Shared Lives households across Liverpool – including our fantastic award winners Lee and Chris.
We’d like to thank Heather Main for capturing how special Shared Lives can be and what a difference it can make in people’s lives, whether they are the person visiting or living with a Shared Lives carer or the carer themselves.
