PSS in North Wales have been running TRIO, a day support service for people with dementia, for several years. Anecdotal evidence suggested that it was providing an exellent Social Return on Investment (SROI), but there had been no research to validate this hunch.
In 2019, researchers from Bangor University undertook research to quantify the value of the service to the people using it and their friends and family. While the research study was hampered by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the findings of the study confirm that TRIO does indeed provide a positive Social Return on Investment.
We are hopeful that this pilot study will lead to further research into the Shared Lives model.
