Moray Shared Lives ambassadors take to the airwaves

Two recently appointed ambassadors for Moray Shared Lives have started their new role in style by recording an interview with the local radio station to promote Shared Lives.

Phillipa and Alison made the journey to KCR radio in Keith, along with Charlie their Shared Lives carer, and Donna and Diane who work for Moray Shared Lives scheme.

“We hope the piece will encourage more potential Shared Lives carers to come forward to learn more about what the service can achieve and how rewarding being a Shared Lives carer can be.

We’re also looking for others to share their stories and to make wee video clips over the next few months. I have asked our Shared Lives carers if they know anyone who would enjoy sharing their thoughts on the positive impact the service has had on their lives. It is always lovely to get out to see them all and to meet with the people who access the service.”

The team were also accompanied by Paddington, their new bear mascot who was looking very stylish in the new scarf Phillipa knitted for him, the badge that Alison made, and a lovely poncho created by Charlie. After they recorded the radio slots, they all headed off to a local cafe for a celebratory cuppa (and possibly a marmalade sandwich or two).

After his first outing, and with Phillipa and Alison’s encouragement, Paddington is keen to explore more of the world of Shared Lives. Philippa and Alison have made a travel story book for him, and hope others will fill it with tales of his adventures while he is off on his holidays. Watch this space for more details about how your Shared Lives scheme could get involved.
