Keeping Shared Lives on the Welsh Government agenda

Kathryn Morgan, Development Officer, explained: “It was a real pleasure to share the good news of Shared Lives’ growth with the First Minister.  Our State of the Nation report, published in March, which summarises our members’ growth paints a positive picture of how Shared Lives is reaching and is available to more people than ever before across Wales.

“We have seen innovative development of Shared Lives and for the first time we now have over 1,100 people supported and over 800 Shared Lives carers in Wales.

“We discussed ways Shared Lives could grow more in Wales and they were interested to hear examples of the people behind the stats in our report. These inspirational stories demonstrate the high standard of care that has made real impact on the health and well-being of individuals and their families.  The First Minister has always been a staunch supporter of our work and we were delighted to have the opportunity to speak to Julie Morgan, the Deputy Health and Social Services Minister, as well as Alison Wood, from the Loneliness and Isolation team and explain how Shared Lives aligns with the new Connecting Communities Strategy launched this month.”
