Shared Lives Plus Awards 2021

So many of you have given so much in recent months, and the Shared Lives Awards are just one small way to say big thank you on behalf of everybody who has made a massive difference this year.

Outstanding Shared Lives Carer of the Year

Awarded to a Shared Lives carer who has gone above and beyond to improve outcomes and community connections for those they support.

The Human Rights Award for Free Expression

The Human Rights Award for Free Expression – awarded to a person supported by a Shared Lives carer for speaking their mind, growing in confidence and living the life they choose.

The judging panel are looking for people who may have:

  • Surprised their Shared Lives carer
  • Learnt to express their views even when others don’t agree
  • Developed a new skill, hobby or passion
  • Made friends and connections with their community
  • Fulfilled a lifelong ambition

Nominations for these awards must be supported by three other people:

  • A Shared Lives carer
  • A Shared Lives scheme worker
  • Someone who lives with or visits a Shared Lives carer

 

Shared Living Champions (in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland)

There are 4 awards up for grabs here for the individuals who have most promoted Shared Living in their area.

Nominees could be:

  • Shared Lives carers
  • Shared Lives scheme workers
  • Homeshare programme workers
  • Homeshare householders or homesharers

The judging panel are looking for people who have made a measurable difference, for instance by:

  • building stronger community connections
  • recruiting more carers
  • raising the profile of their scheme or programme
  • developing more commissioner support
  • engaging social prescribers

Nominations for these awards must be supported by three other people:

  • For nominees from Shared Lives
    • A Shared Lives carer
    • A Shared Lives scheme worker
    • Someone who lives with or visits a Shared Lives carer
  • For nominees from Homeshare
    • A Homeshare householder or homesharer
    • A Homeshare programme worker
    • Someone from an external organisation (e.g. local council, NHS trust, or referring organisation)

The Innovation Award

The Innovation Award is given to the Shared Lives scheme, or Homeshare programme, that has taken an innovative approach to developing, improving, or expanding its service.

This could include adapting their work to support more people, making significant improvements to their practice, or exploring ways to support new groups of people with Shared Lives or Homeshare.

 

Nominate a Shared Lives scheme or Homeshare programme for The Innovation Award here.

 

Organisations can nominate themselves for this award, but your nomination must also be supported by two other people.

 

  • For Shared Lives schemes
    • A Shared Lives carer, or someone who lives with or visits a Shared Lives carer
    • Someone from an external organisation (e.g. local council, NHS trust, referring organisation, or another Shared Lives scheme)
  • For nominees from Homeshare
    • A Homeshare householder or homesharer
    • Someone from an external organisation (e.g. local council, NHS trust, referring organisation, or another Homeshare programme)

 

2021 special awards

This year we will have be presenting  some special awards, reflecting the extraordinary circumstances of the recent past.

Details of the 2021 special awards will be announced during Shared Lives Week.
