This is a grant funded role running for a 3-year period
Location: Home based with access to Liverpool office, and travel as required

Shared Lives Plus is the UK membership charity for more than 6,000 Shared Lives carers, 150 Shared Lives schemes and a growing network of over 25 local Homeshare organisations. We are looking for an experienced senior analyst who can lead a broad range of consulting and improvement projects with national and local authority clients to assist them in growing and diversifying Shared Lives and Homeshare. The successful candidate will be skilled at both qualitative and quantitative analysis, project management, analysing complex performance, economic and demographic data, producing high quality presentations and reports, and facilitating and leading workshops, int4erviews and advisory groups to inform complex projects.

Job Objectives

The overarching objectives of this role include:

  • Leading all aspects of complex improvement and consulting projects for a range of clients, including national Government Departments, NHS organisations and local authorities, to assist them in supporting, planning and delivering growth and diversification of Shared Lives and Homeshare.
  • Conducting research and analysis of complex performance, demographic and service and routine data to understand barriers and opportunities for services to be developed and grow.
  • Delivering a range of quantitative consulting tasks, including designing and analysing surveys, developing, and analysing routine data collection templates, undertaking trend analysis and forecasting and conducting cost benefit or cost avoidance analysis.
  • Leading several sales and business development activities, including taking part in sales meetings, writing, and costing proposals, and completing funding applications
  • Contribute to the development of our organisational strategy, leading on income targets, growth, and our delivery plan.

Main duties and responsibilities

Business development

  • Develop, with the Head of the team and other colleagues from across the organisation, new commercial products, services and opportunities to expand our commercial income.
  • Write high quality, accurately costed proposals / funding applications to secure new income for the charity.
  • Along with the rest of the Strategic Advice and Development Team, help maintain a bank of high-quality case studies, examples, templates, visuals and references to support business development and proposal/application writing activities.

Consultancy and improvement projects

  • Skilled at designing and analysing surveys and data collection instruments
  • Knowledge and interest in social care and health policy and reforms
  • Experience of managing all aspects of complex improvement or consulting projects – including Identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses, synthesising conclusions into recommendations and helping to implement change.
  • Experience of conducting complex quantitative analysis, including designing and analysing surveys and routine data collection templates, producing descriptive statistics and trend analysis and analysing and reporting on performance, service-use and demographic data
  • Experience of conducting cost benefit, cost effectiveness, return on investment and cost avoidance studies/ exercises.
  • Experience of designing and facilitating events, focus groups, workshops and presenting to advisory groups.
  • Adept at supporting and guiding more junior members of the team on projects and approaches, ensuring our standard methodologies and processes are followed.

Person specification:

  • Educated to degree level or similar or have significant relevant experience and transferable skills that you can demonstrate
Experience and skills
  • Experience of relevant management consulting or service improvement experience within a leading consultancy or possess transferable skills from industry experience (public sector experience preferred)
  • Compassionate about public services and improving social care and support for people who draw on support and care
  • Undertaking sales meetings, including discussing our key offers with senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, statistical packages and PowerPoint
  • Core consulting skills such as data analysis, reporting, facilitation and project management
  • Co-production of service design with people with lived experience
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skills.
  • Skilled budget management
  • Effective organisation and time management skills.
  • Able to work flexibly and creatively using own initiative.
  • Competent IT skills
  • A good understanding of Shared Lives and the philosophy underpinning our work and the sector
