Kickstart your career with Shared Lives Plus – 6 month paid placements for 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit

Getting your foot on the career ladder can be really tough. And let’s face it, entry level jobs that make you want to get up and go to work in the morning are few and far between.

But they do exist.

We’re working with the Kickstart Scheme to offer 4 paid positions, for 6 months each, across our Shared Lives and Homeshare organisations. Entry level roles where what you do could change thousands of people’s lives for the better.

Shared Lives Plus Kickstart Roles

Membership Support Administrator:

We support over 6,000 Shared Lives carers and 150 Shared Lives schemes across the UK. In this role you will be working with the Shared Lives Plus membership team to support our existing members, and help develop new opportunities for Shared Lives across the country.

Communications Assistant:

There’s no such thing as a standard day for the Shared Lives Plus communications team.

We cover the whole spectrum of communications work, whether that be publishing a quarterly magazine, offering strategic advice to our scheme members, managing a portfolio of social media channels, or liaising with local and national media to highlight the value of Shared Lives. If you want to use your persuasive powers for good – this might be the role for you.

Homeshare UK Kickstart roles

The Homeshare model is based on trust and friendship, allowing people to ‘live well’ within their chosen communities. Homeshare organisations carefully match people who want companionship, support, or help around the house, with people who need affordable accommodation and are happy to help.

With 20 organisations already up and running, and even more in the pipeline, Homeshare is growing. We think everyone in the UK should have the option to choose Homeshare if they want to.

Homeshare UK Administrator:

In this role you will be working with the Homeshare UK team to support our existing members, and help develop new opportunities for Homeshare across the country.

Homeshare Communications Assistant:

We think more people should know about Homeshare. After all, the benefits are clear:

  • Helping an ageing population stay independently in their own homes for longer
  • Providing affordable accommodation for younger people at a time of record housing shortages and high rent
  • Ending loneliness

If that sounds like something you could be passionate about, this could be the placement for you.

How to apply

These positions are available through the Kickstart scheme, which is designed for young people at risk of long term unemployment, so applicants must be 16-24 and be on Universal Credit to apply.
